CANADIAN FALCONRY IS CANADIAN DISTRIBUTOR FOR "BUDDY" THE WORLDS FIRST DIGITAL EGG MONITOR.
The "Buddy" can indicate viability after as little as 5 days incubation. My initial experience however suggests that it does not show if large falcon embryo such as a Gyr is alive until day 11. "Buddy" was conceived by Jim Reese, a frustrated parrot breeder in U.K. and an electronic expert Keith Simpson who designs Veterinary instruments. Jim Reese was wondering what on earth to call it when Buddy Holly’s classical song "Heartbeat" came on the radio. That settled it.

HOW TO USE: Place egg in egg compartment Close lid. Press "ON" button.

HOW TO INTERPRET: "Buddy" will tell you if the chick is alive. If the display indicates no movement still black heart with zero heart rate and flat pulse line there is probably no viability (unless to early). If embryo is alive display shows movement, a flashing heart and digital heart rate (often greater than 250 beats per min). What could be simpler? "Buddy" is a small portable, solid state, battery operated unit that can be taken out to your Aviary to check eggs. If you work in the field of conservation you can take "Buddy" anywhere you go. An adapter for mains operation is available (220 volts only) but in N. America an additional REGULATED step down transformer is required.
